I worked jointly with a material science professor exploring the characteristics of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) of a specific radiation sterilization protocol.Reviewed previous research articles to design testing protocols and explore structure-property relationships of UHMWPE.Through these testing protocols, I examined the stress-strain relationship for cyclical loading that emulated average usage conditions. Also examined the relaxation mechanism before proceeding with a successive round of loading. After conducting the loading, I used a DSC machine to examine the crystalline changes of the UHMWPE to relate structural features to property. Show less Demonstrated leadership and perseverance to drive innovation by testing Arsenite's inhibition on different enzymes. Exhibited superior attention to detail while collecting collected data for the primary investigator to begin the process of developing a biosensor that could detect low molarity aqueous arsenic. Created environment for sustained success by conducting UV/Vis spectrophotometer enzymatic activity assays with 96 well plates and cuvettes, including pyruvate dehydrogenase.Researched variety of methods for developing fluidic channels for future biosensor design. Show less Leveraged experience and skill to research a novel way to develop a low cost all-natural water filter designed to be implemented in developing nations in need of clean potable water. I explored new ways of extracting protein from a seed and bind it to sand to flocculate contaminants from water. The end goal was to develop an upright sand filter contained in PVC pipe that will remove bacteria, turbidity, and heavy metals from water to create clean potable water.Maximized efficiency while working directly under Protein Scientist on Faculty in Chemical Engineering Department conducting experiments in water purification. Examined interaction kinetics through turbidity analysis using a turbidimeter.Exhibited exceptional ability to marshal appropriate resources by selectively extracting target proteins using ionic binding mechanism with verification using Zeta-Meter and gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Routinely used aseptic technique while conducting transformation of plasmid DNA into E. Coli bacteria cells with heat shockEmployed balanced, disciplined research experience to grow and check E. Coli bacteria to ensure culture remained stable, viable, and contamination free.• Worked directly under Protein Scientist on Faculty in Chemical Engineering Department conducting experiments in water purification• Examined interaction kinetics through turbidity analysis using a turbidimeter• Selectively extracted target proteins using ionic binding mechanism with verification using Zeta-Meter and gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE)• Routinely used aseptic technique while conducting transformation of plasmid DNA into E.
