This involved writing the event feasibility statement for the event as part of the strategic case for the Community Trust manager, including resource and financial requirements, benefits and limitations, interdependencies, and project considerations. As part of this project, I was responsible for writing the event delivery plan, creating risk assessments and developing contingency plans.     • Children First Derby Hackathon

      As a project lead, I was responsible for overseeing and delivering the Hackathon event. This event was situated on groups of students from various industries being split into groups and set the task of designing a community development project that would utilise sport to have a beneficial impact in Derby. Projects were judged by three industry experts who graded ideas based on feasibility, impact, and creativity. From this event, two of the generated projects were taken forward by the partnered funding body and are currently going through the funding process. To manage this project, I utilised spreadsheets to monitor and review the performance of marketing and finance strategies and to periodically adapt and alter strategies to ensure we would be on track to meet our targets. Microsoft Planner was also used to visualise strategy implementation, providing evidence of the inputs into strategy implementation, facilitating strategy review and adaptation. From this experience, I developed my knowledge of managing processes across the event lifecycle, and have developed my skills in planning and implementing project strategies. I also developed my ability to produce an event plan that incorporated response plans to complex operational situations. These plans became crucial when COVID-19 restrictions were imposed 4 weeks before the event. Subsequently, contingency plans were implemented and the event was shifted from an in-person delivery format to an online delivery format.Key responsibilities: - Implementation of project governance processes- Review and adaptation of strategic approaches- Production and maintenance of risk assessments and contingency plansKey achievements:- Two of the generated projects have been put forward for funding by a local partner- 7,021 reached through social media campaign with a 6.6% engagement rate Show less

      Overall, my responsibility as Business Support Manager is to facilitate and provide support to the functions within Health & Volunteering Operations, including managing delivery of administrative tasks through an admin team, delivery of team coordination activities, and oversight of process improvement activities. In addition to managing these activities, I also directly support functional managers in delivering tasks against our organisational and directorate risk assessments and business plans. This includes chairing governance boards for maintaining policy paperwork, chairing editorial boards to support internal communication. I also manage multiple projects linked to the delivery of the directorates strategic objectives, whether that be promotional campaigns, process improvement, or governance related activities. A key part of my role is to have situational awareness of activities going on across St John Ambulance so that I can ensure provide the Director of Health & Volunteering Operations and the functional Head of Department with information and data to support decision making. I also act as a subject matter expert / representative of Health & Volunteering Operations during consultations and reviews. A recent example of this is the Language and Interpretation Review group. Show less As a Development Lead, my overall responsibility was to drive development and improvement of volunteer services, opportunities and support, with the aim of ensuring our people could have a positive volunteering experience while contributing to the organisaton's charitable objectives. Within this role, I was responsible for ensuring my portfolio of projects were delivered on time, in budget and against the agreed scope. Due to the nature of this role being in a development function which supports a wide variety of networks, it was important that I developed and managed relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, at varying levels of the hierarchy and in both volunteer and employee roles. I did this by volunteering to canoe by myself so that two weaker canoers could be paired together. I also volunteered to carry a greater amount of equipment in by canoe to reduce the load of other individuals' canoes. From this experience, I have adopted the same approach to team working when working in both a professional and academic setting, supporting team members who were not as confident or as experienced as myself in performing certain activities.
