  Intern - Early Diversity Internship Programme

  The Early Diversity Internship Programme (EDIP) is designed for 1st year undergraduates with an interest in both politics and social policy. During this placement I was assigned to the Department for International Trade (DIT) in which I was guided by an individual currently on the Civil Service Fast Stream course, undertaking a role in the Market Access team. During this placement I was exposed first hand to the technical language used in DIT, market access barriers which prevent or disadvantage specific exports/imports and further opportunities available within the Civil Service. In addition to this, I was also fortunate enough to spend some time in the Foreign Office and gain an insight into the every day running of the Private Office whilst being introduced to Senior Civil Servants.Was fortunate enough to be provided with a private tour of the Foreign Office, in which I met senior policy makers who often host international board meetings. Meeting with the Private Secretary to the Ministers of Trade Policy provided great insight into various avenues within the Civil Service. Show less

  Online Picker

  During the initial lock-down in response to COVID-19, I undertook a role in which I believed I would be able to help the community as a whole. During my term of employment as an Online Picker at the Crawley Distribution Centre, I was fortunate for the opportunity to better my pre-existing skills and learn new, more efficient ways of problem-solving. During the pandemic, the distribution centre saw record-levels of orders placed hitting record numbers of 62,000+ items that require packaging and sending off before 7 am. Such a magnitude of orders placed meant a vast amount of problem solving whilst ensuring strict quality measures were consistently met with each online customer order. Teamwork was essential within this role to ensure the online orders did not miss any items and that no orders were replicated. During this time I was consistently picking at 10% above the average pick rate. Show less

  Following on from a 2 year long hiatus, 2022 Cannes International Festival of Creativity is a highly anticipated event. The key responsibility of this role was liaising with clients through email and verbal communications, ensuring that physical materials are assigned to the correct client's work. To ensure this responsibility was carried out to a high degree, this included swift and effective internal communications with other team bodies within Cannes Lions, such as the Awards team and Lions specialist. This role extends to the responsibilities on site in Cannes to setting up and organising the material items in the exhibition. Show less
