  Vinci Construction Grands Projets was the leader in a Joint Venture for the construction of Rion - Antirion Bridge Project, a unique 2.252km multi-span cable-stay bridge, which was delivered 5 months ahead of schedule.This Bridge is one of the longer multi-span cable stayed bridges on the world with its 2,252 meters continuous and fully suspended deck and has been awarded 9 International Awards by the scientific community.Project Value: € 800 Million Worked as a QC engineer, responsible for the quality control on:- Piers construction 'In-Situ' concrete works (reinforcement, slump, flow & temp. tests, repairs, injections, covermeter / crackmeter surveying, prestressing)- Main bridge deck concrete works, steel deck bolting and painting- Waterproofing, Asphalt Works and New Jersey barriers Preparation of quality record packages following the company’s QA systemIn this project, I was fortunate to work alongside reputable engineers and experts and experience their skills in construction management and problem solving, in a unique but also challenging project.I learnt how to be a good team player and developed appropriate communication skills, dealing with staff of all levels of seniority and multi-national backgrounds.I developed ‘an eye for the detail’ and learnt to be responsible and accountable for my work at an early stage of my career.   A 'design and build' (PPP) concession project for the construction of a Motorway linking Athens to Thessaloniki. VINCI was responsible for 13% of the entire project and its scope of works included the construction and rehabilitation of a part of motorway (30km) as well as the construction of a traditionally bored bi-tubed Tunnel of 2 lanes plus emergency lane (2,4km long).Project Value: €120 Million of an €1.2 Billion project.Responsibilities included:- Contract management and cost control for all the open section works, for a part of 30km of Motorway, reporting directly to the Project Director;- Co-ordination with our in-house legal and procurement departments regarding the preparation of Invitations to Tender, Variations, Claims and subcontractual negotiations; - Company representation in dispute resolution procedures (mainly DAB’s and Arbitrations);- Company representation/communication with the other JV Partners, designers, subcontractors and public authorities;- All matters of Quality (QA/QC) regarding the open section areas; and- Management of staff comprising of more than 100 individuals from all levels of seniority and background. Main achievements in this job included:Management of staff and subcontractors for an effective and timely project execution, without compromising in quality, cost and deadlines;Achieved as an office income a very large percentage of the total budget for this part of the project due to the timely work completion, as was required by the 3rd contractual milestone of the concession agreement.In addition to the above, through this position, I developed innovative approaches to problem solving, learnt to grasp quickly a wide range of complex issues, learnt to think critically and to remain focused under pressure.   ESIC Joint Venture was the Technical Consultant for the construction of Ionia Odos Motorway, a 'design and build' (PPP) concession project in Greece. The contractors were two Spanish companies, Dragados and Ferrovial, together with the Greek TERNA.Project Value: €1.4 Billion.Acted as technical consultant for the construction of the Motorway. The area of responsibility extended to an area of 40km of a new (under construction) Motorway, including the construction of two traditionally bored (drill and blast) bi-tubed Tunnels of 2 lanes (with a total length of 3480m) and a 3-span twin cantilever bridge (258m long).Main achievements in this job included the preparation of meticulous technical reports concerning construction quality issues, handling the contractual violations of the constructors, and protecting the assets of the concessionaire.
