  I am primarily responsible for preparing the laboratories for faculty to instruct students. This includes preparing solutions and plates, setting up microscopes, microscope slides, tools and models, and (of course) cleaning up afterward. Other typical duties include feeding animals and maintaining their habitats as well as cleaning glassware and general tidying.I've also taken on a variety of other projects at this position. I've managed the Biology Department's chemical inventory and began work on an electronic database, installed lighting fixtures for our plant laboratory, maintained our microscope inventory, and my proudest work: editing and revising the set-up laboratory manual for our Human Biology Laboratory.Some of the skills I've developed and maintained at this position are as follows: plate preparation, autoclave operation, acid washing, identification and proper disposal of various chemicals, microscope repair techniques, as well as the strengthening of basic and advanced laboratory skills. Show less I am responsible for pick-up/delivery of the Media Center's equipment. I also troubleshoot equipment and provide technical support to students, faculty, and staff. I also take requests for rooms, equipment, and supplies. The equipment that I handle most frequently and have the most troubleshooting experience is as follows (in no particular order): computers, projectors, speakers, television sets, DVD players, video cameras, digital voice recorders, and printers.I've developed both my technical skills and my communication skills considerably at this position.   As of August 2011 I was promoted to full time status at one of Mary Cariola's group homes. I was an advocate for one of our boys and I was also responsible for passing medications, helping with community outings, and helping our consumers to lead fulfilling, independent lives.I loved working at Mary Cariola Children's Center, our students are amazing! I had a lot of fun teaching the kids, hanging out with them at the group homes, watching them succeed, and receiving their unconditional love. Getting paid to do all this is just icing on the cake.I have resigned and moved on to a new position at Simple Tech Innovations. My last day at Mary Cariola will be on September 6th. Show less
