      Currently Steering Committee and Team Member for the San Jacinto Incident Management Team (San Jac IMT). Began in 2007 as a team member. Was appointed to the regional Steering Committee later that year and then appointed to Team Leader / Coordinator from January 2008 to May 2013. The team is recognized by the State of Texas as a Type 3 Incident Management Team incorporating the 13-county Houston/Galveston Area COG and coordinated through the Texas Forest Service.Also a member of the Texas State IMT Steering Committee, currently serving as the Vice Chairman.       SLFD’s Emergency Services Division oversees all Fire Department Emergency Operations. Emergency Operations is handled by 24/7 staffing at 7 fire stations, totaling a minimum contingent of 25 personnel. Emergency services provided include fire response, EMS first responder at a EMT-Intermediate level, hazardous materials response, and aquatic rescue and recovery.The Emergency Services Division includes the Logistics Branch. Captain Brian Holcombe leads this team that includes Lieutenant James Barnett. The primary responsibility of this team is to manage all logistical aspects of the Fire Department to include purchasing, procurement, inventory control, supplies, and resources. Logistics works with various City departments and internal support staff to manage support of the fleet, fire stations, bunker gear, SCBA, uniforms, contracts, physicals, EMS supplies, radios and all other facets of the organization. In November, 2018, I was reassigned from Emergency Services to Special Projects. Show less Started with the Sugar Land Fire Department in January 1991 and has held the positions of firefighter, driver, lieutenant, captain, battalion chief and most recently assistant chief- planning & research. Also served as Interim Fire Chief from Sept. 15, 2008, to April 5, 2009. Certifications with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection include Firefighter Master, ARFF Advanced and Fire Service Instructor II. Worked with City Management to transition Emergency Management out of the Fire Department and into a stand-alone Division under the direction of an Assistant City Manager. Worked with City Management on the future direction of the Fire department, through the decision to appoint an Acting Fire Chief.
