  Undergraduate neuroscience research assistant

  Worked with Dr. Paul Morton and his graduate students in the fields of neurodevelopment and neurobiology using both pig and mouse models to observe cellular and structural differences of the brain across various life stages. Conducted touch screen cognition tests with pigs. Worked on identifying and segmenting hippocampal sections on both GF and control brains Developed specialized models for 3D printed chamber slides to prepare for brain imaging. Transferred brain tissue into new medium to optimize the longevity of the samples to allow for further experimentation. Prepared brains for slicing by mounting them in molds using OCT and later freezing them. Worked intermittently doing steps of tissue culture to cultivate cells for later parts of the experiment.
