  After selection in DNB Medical Oncology,I was given training at one of India’s Prestigious institutes known as Army Hospital Research and Referral. This hospital has 960 beds and is referral centre for all hospitals of defense.It is a MCI recognized centre.Training Summary• Compulsory 6 months training in basic oncology, research, and biostatics.• Clinical rotation for specific duration covering subspecialties like CNS,Breast, GI,Hepatobilary system, Sarcomas etc.• One month rotation in Onco-pathology and Onco-Radiology.• OPD from 2nd year onwards under specific consultant covering different specialties of Medical Oncology.• Attending and presenting cases in multidisciplinary meetings.• Compulsory posting to cover acute hematology, lymphomas, and pediatric oncology.• Submission of Research Project during three years training. I was doing research on Incidence of “K-RAS gene mutation in metastatic colorectal cancer in patients of Indian population” and find a Co-relation of K-RAS mutation with demographic and various clinical parameters. A Hospital based Study (March 2011 –Nov 2013)”.This was accepted as poster presentation at World Cancer Congress Australia year 2014.• We had specific training and rotation in Bone marrow transplant unit. I have received detailed training to do autologous bone marrow transplantation. I have been part of transplant team which has done transplants in Hodgkin’s lymphoma, Multiple myeloma, High Risk NET in children, recurrent NHL including Mantle cell lymphomas.• Teaching of Post Graduates, Nursing students and paramedical staff.Procedures done during the training:• Ascitic Tapping• Pleural Tapping• Gun Biopsies of superficial lesions.• PICC line • Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy• Intrathecal chemotherapy• Peripheral Stem Cell Infusions during autologous transplant.• Use of Porta-Cath and accessing the Port- Cath.• Use of infusers for day care chemotherapies.
