[Con]CreateDigitalfabrication Workshop_____________________________________________Directors: Esmaeil Mottaghi, Arman KhalilBeigiAssociate: Sina SalimzadehManager: Saeede KalantariUniversity of Tehran Science and Technology Park, [stp.ut.ac.ir]_____________________________________________The idea behind this workshop was to #design an fabrication methodology for complex #concrete structures; this methodology employs common 2D CNC machineries and therefore is more efficient in Time and expenses. The complexity in this experiment resides in #ComputationalDesign where an highly integrated system of hierarchical substructures used to control the geometry and assembly process._______________________________________________Concrete Technology: Raika Dezh Part [raikadezhpart.com]-Participants:Alireza Sheikhlar, Amir Homauni, Anahita Seifaii, Bahar Bagheri, Behzad Modanloo, Elham Miralavi, Fatemeh Eghbalpoor, Hamidreza Malekian, Hanie Ghasemi, Maryam Anaraki, Mehdi Mirzajani, Mohammad Behjoo, Mona Lavasani, Shadi Asgari, Shakiba Zokaii, Shermin Sherkat, Kave Khodabakhshi, Rojin Sobhani, Zoha Memari, Ali Sedgh-With Support of:Leca (Leca.ir, A. FFS3 WORKSHOPAbstract:Freeform Space Structure Workshops are held for the purpose of researchand practice the two areas of free form structures and computer integratedconstruction and design methods. Each of these training programs dealswith a specific way of constructing free form structures. This workshop triedto design and construct a composite structure by examining free-form fabricstructures. At first, students have created ways to develop the form bystudying the materials and understanding their behavior. Then, they havedeveloped their designs using digital fabrication tools and produced themon a real scale. After digital designing, the final fabric structure is formed bycable and then reinforced with polyester resin and fiberglass.Introducing the Organizers:The workshop was organized by University of Art, Digital craft house, IranianArchitect House and Contemporary Architects Association.Teachers:mona lavasanibehzad modanlooHanieh OmidRamtin HaghnazarJavad AllahgholiHasan pourmahabadianWorkshop supervisor: Dr. M. Robotic 3D Metal Printing Workshop (WAAM)

An interdisciplinary workshop organized jointly by the Mechanical Engineering and Architecture Departments at the American University in Cairo (AUC), Egypt. Utilizing the facilities of the AUC Additive Manufacturing Centennial Lab (AMCL). The workshop aims at introducing concepts and techniques of Robotic Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) for architects, with the primary objective of fabricating complex architectural geometries and forms. The workshop was focused on introducing students to the concepts and applications of WAAM and robotics in architecture, including WAAM design principles and fabrication strategies, and robotic programming and simulationParticipating students in the robotic WAAM workshop attended online lectures and tutorials in WAAM programming and robotic simulation via Zoom, in addition to following via live- streaming the physical robotic fabrication of an architectural prototype at the Additive Manufacturing Centennial Lab (AMCL) at AUC. Learning Outcomes:- Concepts of Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM)- WAAM Design Principles- Robotic Programming & Simulation using Grasshopper- WAAM Parameters & Operation Show less

In this workshop, we went through the introduction of this material, the methods that scholars and designers have chosen to form this material, and the novel techniques to do so. Working with such a novel material requires us to go through the trifold cycle of Material, Geometry, and Technique. The inherent uncertainty of this material informs the geometries and techniques that we can use, and these forms and methods update us on how to modify the material. This circular design method opens several opportunities to design and fabricate (and experience and learn) with (and from) a bio-based material. Show less
