As a consultant with Advis, I advised clients on wide range of projects at the intersection of business, healthcare, and law.A large part of my projects included leveraging my experience in healthcare technology to help clients implement and optimize participation in government programs and reform initiatives. Those included programs rooted in the HITECH Act, HIPAA, and further reformed by MACRA, such as the Quality Payment Program (QPP), Meaningful Use, EHR Incentive Programs, Promoting Interoperability, advanced alternative payment models (APMs), the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), and quality reporting and improvement initiatives. I helped clients understand what these programs required, developed plans for reporting and performance improvement, identified communication strategies, and captured maximum positive payment readjustments.Another focus area involved the 340B Program. This included guiding hospitals assessing their eligibility for 340B Program enrollment, developing an initial enrollment plan for 340B, and optimizing participation for well-established hospitals. Specific tasks covered vendor evaluation and selection, contract negotiation, contract pharmacy partner identification, external audits, compliance program development, and drug purchasing optimization.Other projects covered various healthcare topics, such as work with health insurance plans to conduct mental health parity assessments, to ensure specific benefit design remained compliant with quantitative and qualitative requirements.
