This is an ongoing project in which Macquarie University students participate every year. We compare the changes to map the progress of the area over time. We had to visit a site to log all the shops and land there, record the information as consistent with Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) and digitising and map this information onto ArcGIS for presentation to the council. • Oaktree

      Mar 2018 - Oct 2021

Following the departure of our State Director I have assumed the role first as acting and then as permanent state director. This role has included overseeing a transition of the team and making it as smooth as possible while getting to know our team on a new level and in a new role. I have been involved in promoting our organisation at various events and giving presentations and speeches. I have also been involved in liaising with our most prominent fundraisers and donors inside NSW. I have worked on the end of the major Live Below the Line fundraiser overseeing the crucial challenge week and homestretch period since taking over as State Director. I am confident managing people and working out schedules and events as they evolve and then planning our team around those events. As Director I continued being involved in completing the projects I was involved in during my previous role through the end of 2019 and am still working at the grassroots level with students and contacts to finish out our relationships with those I had been responsible for before assuming my new role. Show less As a community engagement officer at Oaktree I focused onboth a fundraising and recruitment. I was the point of contact for over three dozen high schools and a further 20+ university societies for recruitment and fundraising for 2019. Our strategy involves training students in each school and university group to give them the knowledge and skills to recruit other members and volunteers for Oaktree events and fundraisers in their communities themselves. I also helped to run workshops for both high school and university students to empower them to become more involved active participants in the world around them. Show less During this role I was the lead on the campaigns team helping to coordinate the team with the projects team on joint fundraisers and programs as well as the NSW campaigns liaison to the Oaktree headquarters in Melbourne. My team and I helped to recruit new members for Oaktree fundraisers and campaigns as well as run leadership skills workshops in approval with Macquarie universities leadership program. We have also overseen the transition and expansion of the campaigns team into a more open and welcoming focus with less of a specific focus on university students and more on all young members of the community. Show less I focused on engaging university and tafe students in becoming involved in politics and in encouraging them to speak to their local members to discuss what they find important as current voters and future leaders. I promote Oaktree fundraising and activities as well as to reach out to students to make them politically aware and politically engaged. I have helped to run training sessions for university students to inform them how to become politically active and effective in their communications with politics and campaigning. They have then gone on to run a campaign to garner signatures and increase local awareness about the aid budget to speak to their local MPs across two different campaigning strategies and projects.
