  Pursued a BS major that drew from the fields of public policy, resource management, and recreation and leisure. The Natural Resources Management Program prepared me to step into leadership roles while pursuing interdisciplinary careers that deal primarily with the natural world (park rangers, forest managers, and wildlife specialists etc). I learned how to collect, manipulate, and work with spatial data (GIS), understand basic biological and ecological sciences, measure and mathematically analyze natural resource data, as well as becoming fluent in environmental and natural resources legislation guiding public land management.Studying sociology/anthropology helped me develop skills applying critical concepts in the field to contemporary national and global issues and problems-- such as awareness of the causes and consequences of human inequalities in social class, gender and race/ethnicity, trends in social media and psychology, as well as a bio-cultural perspective. Ethnographic fieldwork exposed me to the methods behind anthropological research. Show less
