      Certificate Structural Bodywork

Instructor Daniel Blake was trained & certified directly by Ida Rolf, and kicked out of Rolf Institute by Ida, because he disagreed with some of her principles, especially on the affects of fascia (connective tissue) on the structure of the body. He came to Chicago to teach his system of *Structural Bodywork* at the Bodymind Center, a subsidiary of the Chicago School of Massage Therapy.

Activities and Societies: Mostly the Lone Ranger/Mad Scientist type. My ideas were so controversial (and threatening to cherished traditions) many years ago that people thought I was off-the-wall and were not too accommodating. So I just went off and did my own thing. But of course, much of it is now taught in many schools, and is even showing up in medical textbooks. (I'm not saying that's all because of me, but just to show I was not as off-the-wall as people thought.) Mostly Self-Taught with attendance at a number of workshops and trainings over the years. Also informal, one-one-work work with a number of leaders in my fields. ... I got into this field before there was much in the way of professional training.

      Musculo-Fascial Trouble Shooter

Health care problems of many are not usually associated with what I call *C.E.M.&.N.T.* or Chronic, Excess Musculo-Fascial & Nerve Tension & Stress. Put simply, "tight muscles" or being "stressed out" cause FAR more problems than commonly recognized. Injury & trauma can of course multiply the problems, especially if there are multiple injuries. Though not much acknowledged by most physicians or therapists, simple RADICAL RELAXATION of muscles very often solves MANY problems (to the surprise of many).Although many have traveled to my location, I've frequently traveled to Clients' locations to work with extreme issues of a structural, neuromuscular, myofascial nature. The work uses a *NO Pain, MORE Gain* approach (tolerating pain is VERY discouraged), but in some extreme cases is very time intensive. This process is best for individuals or small groups whom:● Are in sufficient pain or dysfunction to take more "aggressive" (yet very NON-invasive) measures.● Have access to residential accommodations for me such that logistics is relatively easy.● Have sufficient control of their time and can arrange to spend 3 to 4 hours per day, (sometimes more) spread out over the day if necessary, for several days to possibly a few weeks, to receive therapy.● Have sufficient funds or credit to afford my fees.● Are open-minded to Whole Health or “Alternative" Therapies.● Have Good internet access. This is a VERY scientifically-based therapy, NOT a New Age or "mystical" system. (This issue will be fully addressed BEFORE you make any commitment.)I've spent as much as 6 hours per day, several days per week over several weeks, with Clients with severe pain & dysfunction for many years. ... Yes, there are occasional "fast results," but cannot be promised. An initial, exploratory, 3-day session is advised. If more than 1 Client, I can work up to 9 hours per day if necessary, 2 to 3 hours at a time. I can be very flexible with scheduling. Show less

I was invited to Boston to work with a number of classical musicians, mostly string instruments such as cello violin and viola, and a few pianists. These were world-class performers, faculty and students, mostly at the New England Conservatory of Music. ... I successfully helped nearly all of the people I worked with recover from career threatening pain & dysfunction, using hands-on therapy and some yoga-style stretching techniques. In a few cases, they were literally at the end of their career if we could not produce the needed results. ... We did succeed in nearly every case. Show less
