I helped to rebrand the bar to attract a wider customer base and drive sales in part by redesigning the cocktail menu with internal partners to promote new and original cocktails, implementing sales strategies. I extensively described a range of craft ales, wines, whiskeys, and vintage spirits, whilst providing bar patrons with superior service, receiving 5* Google reviews, and giving an enjoyable experience in an upmarket setting. For the business, I upsold customers from shelf to premium and vintage brands and leveraged my interpersonal skills and beverage knowledge to cultivate a loyal cocktail and vintage spirit clientele.

    • Barclays

      Aug 2023 - now

Working in the FX payments space, I built NLP clustering and analysis pipelines, using Python, AWS Athena, Streamlit, and a transformer model, exposing ~£4m in annual reversal losses stratified by detailed reason for occurrence, and advised a team of business analysts on product journey recommendations to remediate 75% of these cases. Summarised this to executives to inform an implementation plan.Running experiments with address parsing builds to inform a migration to a new SWIFT standard. Also scrutinising data strategy and aiming to build a better data culture. Show less In this rotation, I led on backend and data engineering for a new full-stack web application, working with a frontend developer, aiming to centralise and automate markets service reporting and analytics operations - reducing analyst workload by 4 hours per week.I built APIs with Python FastAPI, and used Rust-based technologies and parquet conversions to develop optimal data pipelines. I also built state management, metrics, and cataloguing systems with supporting tests and schema to support the data flow and ensure that data was treated as a product for the end-user. These methods achieved a 60% performance improvement on their previous version. Chef was used for Linux server configuration. To collaborate, we used Git and Jenkins for CI/CD chef pipelining. All supporting project and architecture artefacts and documentation were authored by myself and the other developer.Frequently participated in code reviews, and delivery of handover presentations explaining methodology and codebase to prepare less experienced colleagues.Another project involved using an Angular and Python stack with OpenShift and Jenkins, to develop and release a feature to a cloud-native FX platform, enabling users to analyse trade volumes across N business days.I also did some small data reporting. Show less For my main project, the business needed to address the needs of each the customer and the engineer; I applied NLP techniques with an embedding model to a clustering problem for the extraction of insights from large unstructured incident and customer complaint data. The outputs were displayed on a regularly-refreshed Tableau dashboard to guide decision-making.I tuned Java scripts to recognise specific grok patterns in ELK to expose error discrepancies. I also built a data pipeline with a Tableau dashboard that actively monitors milestone progress, allowing C-suite stakeholders to make better informed decisions around deadlining and resourcing - this was automated using Tableau Prep and TabPy.At the start of my rotation, I curated and deployed a data analytics learning pathway to upskill colleagues so they could deliver work more effectively, and I implemented and monitored an effective tech control environment by robustly managing some governance activity to reduce operational risk.
