      (TNG, The News Group prior to 2013, is the largest periodical distributor in North America, with Information Technology operations based in Burlington ON.)I manage TNG’s solutions and applications development group, responsible for creating and integrating line-of-business applications, along with their support and maintenance. These underlie the company's main business activities in logistics and merchandising of magazines, books, as well as other consumer product categories.* Solution integration of Customer Relationship Management, ERP/financials, and Distribution/Warehouse Management systems, processing all accounts receivables transactions.* Integration of Distribution Management and Warehouse Management systems, orchestrating the process flow among these in the distribution channel pipeline.* Business Intelligence facilities, including a corporate data warehouse, OLAP databases, and dashboards presenting performance scorecards and reporting.My shop operates with mostly Microsoft technologies, including: * over 30 terabytes of SQL Server databases* more than 100 Integration Services packages, which do much of the heavy lifting in making some diverse LOB systems share information and play nicely with one another* collections of Reporting Services reports, custom designed for logistics and merchandising requirements* SharePoint 2010, providing several Internet public Websites, 5 intranet business-unit portals or site collections, along with PerformancePoint Services which surface online dashboards* Purpose-built software, both providing and consuming Web services, is developed on the Microsoft.NET platform, With this set of information technologies, my group has been able to make distinctly positive contributions to TNG's business operations, in the challenging environment faced by a wholesaler of printed publications, confronted by digital media.
