  Earned a master’s degree while working full time. Conducted a yearlong thesis research project on communication and empowerment, volunteering with high school communication students in southern New Mexico. Selected to represent NMSU in the Western Association of Graduate Schools distinguished master’s thesis competition.

As assistant director of a 40-person communications department, managed an experienced staff based on campus and in remote offices. Served as editor and contributor for an online news center, audio productions, an alumni newsletter and a research magazine.
