Master's degree Energy Engineer 110/110 (top grade) with honors

Master thesis on the CFD modelling of turbulent spray flames using LES simulations in ANSYS Fluent.During the master courses, I had the opportunity to learn the numerical modelling of engineering problems with special emphasis on CFD. Moreover, I acquired advanced knowledge on the main energy systems: - Power generation (Steam plants, Gas Turbines, Combined Heat & Power, Nuclear plants);- Renewable energies; - Refrigeration systems;- HVAC;- Fuel cells. • Avio Aero - a GE Aviation Business

      Nov 2015 - Oct 2018
      CFD consultant

Support for experimental campaigns investigating new cooling technologies.Involved in the design of the Advanced TurboProp (ATP) engine. - CFD simulations using ANSYS Fluent aimed to predict the aerothermal field and metal temperature of the combustion chamber. In-house tools as REACT and THERM3D were exploited for a preliminary estimation of pollutant emissions and Conjugate Heat Transfer, respectively.- Definition of post-processing methodologies to transfer wall information from CFD to THERM1D (1D CHT solver) Show less

    • Università degli Studi di Firenze

      Nov 2015 - Nov 2018

Research activities on the prediction of aero-thermal field and emissions in aeroengine combustors using high-fidelity scale-resolving CFD methodologies (LES, SAS). - The major effort was on the development through User Defined Functions (C-based) of an unsteady multiphysics framework in ANSYS Fluent, called U-THERM3D, for the investigation of Conjugate Heat Transfer problems involving combustion, convection, conduction and radiation. The tool is a key task in the SOPRANO EU Project;- In the context of IMPACT-AE EU project I contributed to the development/assessment of a CFD-CRN (Chemical Reactor Network) tool, called REACT, for the prediction of pollutant emissions in combustion devices. The tool is based on Fortran and CFD-Post (Perl macros);- Simulations for the prediction of metal temperature, exit profile temperature and pollutant emissions were performed on the annular combustor tested at CIAM by Avio Aero during LEMCOTEC EU project;- Lectures at Gas Turbines and Combustion in GT courses for MSc students;- Speaker at National (ASICI-Naples, 2016; ATI- Turin, 2016) and International (ASME Turbo Expo - Oslo, 2018; SOPRANO Meeting M18 - Stuttgart, 2018) conferences;- Workshops Show less
