  IT Decision Maker – Served as the chief IT leader, strategist and decision maker for a large non-profit that grew to 38 million in total revenue. Managed an IT budget approaching $1 million with a user base of 650 across 17 locations. Managed an in-house staff of 3 - 5 augmented by outsourced network administration and technical support services.Cross-Organizational Collaboration & Mentorship – Cultivated an extensive network of YMCA leaders in the USA and Canada, primarily but not exclusively in technology. Was a founding member of the North American Affinity group of technology leaders in the YMCA movement and served as 2012 Chair of that group. Provided mentorship, friendship and beneficial collaboration to and with many leaders in the USA and Canada.Business Intelligence/Reporting – Built extensive warehouses of custom reports and dashboards against YMCA back-end databases. The current warehouse includes over 700 queries plus monthly data mart’s, dashboards and annual reports.IT Infrastructure/Cyber Security – Evolved the YMCA network infrastructure to 99.999% uptime including numerous budget neutral upgrades. Evolved the YMCA network protection hardening and threat detection to prevent attacks from being successful. Implemented effective staff training on recognizing and neutralizing phishing and other attacks. There were attempts but no breaches impacting the organization on my watch.Vendor Relationships – Negotiated all technology related deals such as phone, internet, location to location connectivity, copiers/printers, IT outsourcing, and infrastructure as a service. Provided good stewardship in obtaining non-profit pricing. Maintained strong relationships with vendors. Show less System Selection, Implementation, Conversion, Integration – Successfully directed all operational software implementation projects for the YMCA of Greater San Antonio from 2001-2020 (user count between 300 and 600), including but not limited to Membership & Program systems in 2001, 2009, and 2014, HR/Payroll in 2012, and Website in 2005, 2010, and 2018. Built many integrations between the customer management system, the website, and peripheral systems such as nationwide membership reciprocity, customer survey tools, targeted customer emails, and member engagement systems.
