  I started working here just as a customer service cashier and then learned to do many things from grounds maintenance to nightly financial and inventory reports. I was eventually promoted to store manager. I did all the financial reports except for payroll our corporate office handled that. I performed routine maintenance on the equipment. I learned and operated the Helios Digital Platform proficiently. I Incentivized sales with a commission by percentage of inventory sold for the staff, to increase our sales. I hired, trained and have unfortunately had to fire employees. I maintained good customer relations and taught good customer service tips to trainees. I enforced the franchise rules as far as uniforms and product/inventory quality. I left because the business was sold to a new owner and I found an opportunity to make very good money and travel in a different and more physical field of work. Show less

  Refractory Fire Brick Laborer

  I started working here after the last business I managed was sold and wanted to make more money and explore a different field of work while being able to travel. This was a very physically demanding and wearing job. I drove forklifts stacked with pallets of fire brick, tore out smelter furnaces at multiple foundry or factories that produce metal castings. The hours were, 12hr minimum days up to 18hr days mandatory. No days off were permitted until the job was finished. I also drove the crews, when we would finish at one plant, we would get our orders to drive to the next job, most of the time they were in different states and cities. Sometimes we would be gone for months at a time other times it was just a week or two depending on the contracts and season or scheduled annual shutdowns of the facilities. I did this for as long as I could bear the physical taxation and continue to perform up to par. This was by far the hardest job I’ve ever held and eventually, I couldn’t keep up any longer and resigned. Show less

  I assisted the Executive director with office work such as scheduling meetings, events, mailing invitations, documents, and other parcels to affiliates. I made and received phone calls on the executive director’s behalf. I communicated and scheduled things through Gmail and the Google calendars platform between the recovery homes, thrift store, homeless services, and mission soup kitchen entities within the umbrella of the organization. I compiled and transcribed notes, research, and other information pertaining to anything that was beneficial to the nonprofit and its operations. Also, I have represented the Executive Director by attending Boards such as the Reentry Board of Carteret County and performed multiple community outreach duties. For instance, I helped with the logistics in organizing their annual empty bowls event. I also helped to put together the grand opening of the women’s homeless shelter. Show less

  I looked over the men’s homeless shelter. I would do an initial intake with men to determine eligibility and convey a comprehension of all protocols and rules for staying. I enforced and reprimanded rules and individuals according to the rules. I scheduled and kept everyone informed of certain events that required assistance from able-bodied men or just attendance to show appreciation, for the fulfilment of service work requirements and consciousness of organizational meetings or volunteers serving events, such as dinners, lunch, religious studies, etc. I also constructed monthly plans for each man where we would meet on individual bases and go over things such as financials, future plans, employment, goals, and so on. We would then measure how each man was progressing towards the goal of becoming a productive and self-sufficient member of society. Show less
