      Facilities Operations Manager, Police Sergeant

Serving in the United States Marine Corps shaped me into the leader I am today. Over my 5 year employment, I consistently exceeded expectations, earning top scores on testing and education and recognition by high-ranking superiors for my workmanship and management abilities. As a Recruit in Boot Camp in 2002, a fresh Marine, I was quickly given the title of Platoon Guide which placed me as the top recruit and required leadership of 4 squad captains, delegating authority for 50 persons. After Boot Camp, I was sent to standard training and started the first of two schools for Avionics Maintenance. During schooling, our first class was made up of a platoon of 10 persons, which I was made the Squad Leader. At the final school for Avionics, I was also the Squad Leader of 5 persons and graduated with the highest GPA at 'C School' in Marine Corps history. One year into my Marine Corps career, I was made the Lead Tech for the entirety of the bases work-center for Communications Navigations for Avionics. This leadership advancement is typically unheard of in such a short time as normally the role can take 2 to 3 years to be achieved. Three years into my Marine Corps career, I was made Daytime Supervisor of the bases Specialty Repair Shop for all divisions, requiring supreme attention to detail and recall for a wide variety of electronic technologies. During the standard shift, I led 5 Marines and accomplished 10-20 jobs daily, managing workloads 2-3 times greater than all other shops. Over the course of my final two and a half years with the Marine Corps, I was deployed and made the Lead Tech during the 7-month deployment, which initiated my promotion to Police Sargent where I managed 700 Marines. I was offered a package to attend Annapolis and a position as a tech for the Presidential Helicopter - but ultimately I turned it down. Show less

    • Hobby Lobby

      Feb 2012 - Aug 2021
Conservation Framer and Store Set Supervisor (South-East Region) for Frame Shops & Warehouses

Working in the service industry requires a daily application of determination, drive, endurance, and quality. As a training and set-supervisor, I build teams through processes that work and manage the projects with an eye for detail. When I’m not setting up stores around the south-east region, I work as a conservation framer. At Hobby Lobby, the framing department is unique for what it requires to run - and as the source of budget planning for the store, the work is more complex than the remaining departments. Daily operations require our team of 5 to run perfectly. I maintain project management, quality control, and production while coaching and training the team daily. On the road, my role stays flexible with the needs of each store set. While I directly manage the warehouse and frame shop set-up, I also help plan and implement set up processes for the set as a whole. Directing teams of 50-90 people, I lead the project and ensure goals are met daily for construction. Ultimately, we take an empty space and leave a working team and shoppable store.Regular duties include: - Project management - Operations strategy - Training - Process implementation - Conservation framing - Customer experience Show less
