Performed coupled loads analyses and wrote and maintained in-house coupled loads analysis software tools.• Served as Structural Dynamics and Loads Lead for the MMA Medium Launch Vehicle (MLV) I and MLV III proposal efforts.• Developed new nonlinear liftoff integrator as part of the Advanced Launch System (ALS) development effort. Ported integrator to Titan IV project after analysis results better matched those from a third party, requiring extensive revision to accommodate the Titan IV liftoff analysis. Extended method to three bodies for the Titan IV Solid Rocket Motor (Upgrade) SRM(U) separation analysis.   Managed 10 – 12 Structural Dynamics and Loads engineers working Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) / Atlas V providing launch vehicle development and mission integration support. Performed preliminary design loads analysis, primarily for the EELV / Atlas V development.• Led and managed the Structural Dynamics and Loads team through most of the Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) / Atlas V development effort and performed much of the development loads analysis.• Participated in investigation of second Atlas V booster RP (fuel) tank structural test failure. Investigation determined the failure’s root cause; tank was redesigned; redesigned tank was successfully tested.• Developed and performed innovative postflight analysis of Atlas V 003 and 004 missions Solid Rocket Booster (SRB) jettison using onboard camera video frames. Result was improved SRB jettison analysis that included influence of booster main engine plume lobes, which were not previously defined or accounted for.• Further developed for EELV / Atlas V the liftoff integrator developed for Advanced Launch System and previously supplied to Titan IV; made several improvements to integrator required to accommodate Atlas V.• Prepared statements of work and cost, schedule, and manpower estimates.• Wrote and verified system and subsystem level requirements.• Prepared and gave many presentations for design reviews, Engineering Review Boards, etc. Wrote many technical memoranda. Participated as a Structural Dynamics resource in development efforts being led by others. Performed preliminary design loads analysis, primarily for the EELV / Atlas V development.• Led and managed the Structural Dynamics Development and Operations Support team from 2009 through mid-2016, with responsibility for Atlas V, Delta II, and Delta IV – related efforts.• Participated in many proposal efforts, writing bases of estimates for Structural Dynamics efforts. Participated in technical review of supplier proposals. Caught and questioned many inconsistencies in request-for-proposal materials and in proposal inputs, leading to higher quality proposals with greater value to the company and customer.• Performed loads analyses for early development efforts such as Advanced Cryogenic Upper Stage, allowing others to do credible preliminary structural sizing.• Served as a Structural Dynamics resource for ULA Vulcan development and component or subsystem development efforts, including e.g., Next Generation Solid Rocket Booster (NGSRB), 400-ISA interstage adapter, Dual Spacecraft Systems, 4.4m Payload Fairing. This participation provided tools and advice (e.g., for early definition of NGSRB interface loads), which reduced the early development effort and avoided pitfalls, and was based on experience from the Atlas V development.
