  Provides crime prevention education and information to individuals, groups or businesses within our community on such topics as personal, safety, Neighborhood Watch, Active Shooter situations training, Bullying Prevention, Stranger Danger, and firearm safety.Conducts security assessments utilizing the principles of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).Coordinates the departments Citizens Police Academy, and Law Enforcement Explorers. Investigates traffic fatality crashes and accident reconstruction. Conducts traffic related directive patrols targeting high traffic crash areas. Was Regional Coordinator for the NC Governors Highway Safety Program for western North Carolina. Performed specialized law enforcement work in maintaining order at local public schools by maintaining a visible presence in the school and at school functions to deter crime, apprehending violators, and developing a rapport with students to counsel against unlawful or otherwise harmful activity. Conducted educational presentations to school classes, assisted in truancy investigations, and conducted other investigations of reported crimes, such as assault, drugs, and larceny.
