Via phone calls, email, and in-person interactions, I assist with and address questions, concerns, and criticism. Through collaboration with other departments within ODOT, I’m able to quickly address feedback we receive with a detailed summary by simplifying complicated engineering lingo and packaging it into an understandable message for the average person. Through active daily engagement on social media (included ODOT's largest Twitter account with 31,500+ followers), I am able to communicate traffic updates, alert motorists to time-sensitive restrictions and closures, promote safe driving habits, and publicize the positive impacts ODOT provides on a daily basis. I have increased ODOT's presence on social media through regular updates, targeted graphics design, and educational videos. My reach to citizens extends past social media and one-on-one exchanges. Handling media relations for ODOT District 12, I manage media needs and interview requests for the local Cleveland media as well as outlets throughout Lake and Geauga counties. The Public Information office organizes heavily-attended events, including press conferences, ribbon cuttings, annual meetings and public comment open houses.
