      The first two years of four were spent in the Apprentice Training School learning all the Mechanical Engineer processes and the use of manufacturing machinery. The second two years were spent in rotation of different workshops at the Harwell and Culham sites learning a whole range of specialists skills specific to each area. During the four years I also attended Technical college on a weekly block rotation to learn the associated theory.

      Set up of procedures, manufacturing methods and automation.Actively involved in SMT and all plant and processes involved with PCB population.Implemented "Continuous improvement" within cells improving involvement and motivation of workforce to be more effective. Responsible for the overall manufacture of the two most popular portable instruments which when combined accounted for 30% of the company output. During this time production was switched to cellular manufacturing which drastically reduced component failures and increased production by about 25%. Responsible for supervision and manufacturing of gas sampling systems for emission, biogas and landfill monitoring. During this time PC control was introduced to the systems. Personally designed a flashback arrestor to accompany product. Started as a temporary position. Required to build nine gas sampling systems for Honda Cars of Swindon. During this time was taken on in a permanent basis.
