      AmeriCorps Public Allies

During my time with AmeriCorps I worked with ACE Leadership High School in Old town Albuquerque as Community Coordinator. My primary projects consisted of designing and implementing a community assessment plan and building a system of communication between ACE and the professional and local community. With these projects, I also balanced daily administrative tasks, which were required of nearly everyone at the new charter school just reaching its full student capacity. The position required a combination of strong writing and speaking skills, as well as adept and constant networking. I initiated and managed the school’s online communities including ACE’s social media platforms, website, and monthly newsletter. The community engagement team also spent substantial time outside the office, recruiting students, attending conferences, and speaking to the public, and I planned and organized many of these events. We were the face of ACE Leadership and the school, students, and community profited from our efforts. I also had the pleasure of working with One Million Bones as Community Outreach and Volunteer Manager. One Million Bones is an art activism non profit focused on increasing awareness of genocide and other atrocities around the world. One Million Bones used hands-on art making and art activism education to relay their message. In this position I developed outreach presentations focused on art as an informant of social justice issues. These were presented to elementary, middle, and high schools in Albuquerque. It was in this position that I developed a passion for working with children and young adults. Show less
