  Major Projects:Project Leader for a series of textbooks being used annually at Tokyo Metropolitan University (東京都立大学), Chuo University, and other universities in the Tokyo area by approximately 3000 students:Using our experience designing and implementing university lessons, we analyze the shortcomings of the off-the-shelf textbooks being used. One issue we noticed was the learning objectives of the course and our learner centered teaching approach did not align with the goals and activities in the previous textbooks. In Viewpoints, we used Gagne’s Nine Events of Instructions to design units that helped the learner achieve the clearly defined goals of each unit. Learners are able to focus on language that helps them complete practice activities that are fun and engaging that give our instructors a chance to evaluate and provide feedback to help them improve. I also created an Instructor’s manual to go along with the textbooks to help our instructors carry out the lessons in a consistent and effective manner. Using eLearning software to recreate our in-house university training programs:Prior to each semester, we hold at least one 6-8 hour orientation/training program for each of your university programs to ensure our instructors are ready to carry out their lessons. This proved to be very costly both in terms of paying the instructors to attend the orientation and in the man-hours to prepare for them. I am working to replace these orientations with a 5 module interactive eLearning training program that all of our university instructors could complete in an hour.Working on digitalizing our materials for Global Business English Online:I am in the process of using eLearning software to turn our physical textbooks into eLearning courses that can be delivered in private or group lessons, online or face-to-face.
