  Opportunities Advocate/ Project Worker

  My position at Just for Kids Law was a voluntary work placement, enabling me to practice many of the theories, policies and skills learnt during my degree. Just for Kids Law is a charity Law firm working to support and advocate on behalf of young people with a range of difficult and often complex legal and socio-economic issues. They also campaign for legal, social and educational change. During my 18-month placement, I worked alongside other advocates and project workers on a campaign called Let Us Learn; a movement fighting for equal opportunities for non-asylum migrant students in the U.K. In my time at Just for Kids Law, 12 Universities in and around London implemented an Article 26 Scholarship based on my efforts, this is an achievement I am very proud of.My responsibilities included liaising with service users, attending tribunals/court appearances where appropriate, helping in the recruitment processes (interviews) of potential advocates/opportunities workers, shadowing campaign meetings, campaigning, contacting universities in order to promote Article 26 Scholarships. I also planned the annual charity football tournament, an event run in order to raise money for vulnerable young people. Show less
