Developing surface chemistries for photonic biosensors in the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology. Co-I of the York Equitable Technology Lab: https://www.york.ac.uk/research/sparks/equitable-technology-laboratory/Developing technologies with the end-users in mind, ensuring that new technology is designed in a conscientious way - to be equitable and not only meet the users' needs but also fit the societal situation.Working on the ‘Photonic hyperspectral no-label spotter (Phenospot)’ project, funded by the Wellcome Trust Technology Development Grant. Phenospot allows for the protein secretion of cells to be monitored in real-time, with spatial information and label-free. Mostrar menos A PDRA position, working as part of the highly collaborative MAPS project (multi-parameter assay for profiling susceptibility). We were working towards the development of a hand-held device for the detection of antibiotic resistance. My role within the project was to develop the surface chemistry for preparing sensors for the detection of extended spectrum beta-lactamases (enzymes produced by resistant bacteria). I worked closely with clinicians from York Teaching Hospital NHS trust. Our goal was develop a rapid test for detecting in UTI patient samples. Mostrar menos
