    • Interocean Energy and Services

      Oct 2008 - May 2011
      Manager Operations

I was tasked with setting up a brand new service arm of Bunker fuel supplies under the Mc Larens Group under Interocean Energy Pvt Ltd. Overall responsible for the sales and operations which was a 24 x 7 x 365 operation. Our operations commenced with a partnership with Ceylon Petroleum Corporation , where the bunker barges were loaded through Bowser trucks. The operations were continues and was a unique experience in handling a 24 x 7 operations with a state corporation including Saturday and Sunday in which we were able to establish our selves as the 3rd player in the market.I also got the opportunity gain experience in vessel management /crew handling for the barges owned and operated by the company.Setting up the processors from scratch , it was certainly an achievement to have obtained the ISO certification during this short period of time after the initial establishment of the company brand new. Placing the order for the loading based on projecting the inquiries /orders to liaising with the bowser truck handler to a ship management company that stemmed the bunker nomination was the scope that was covered till the funds were recovered and the file was closed which gave a deep insight to the bunkering operations as a physical bunker supplier. • GAC Group

      Jun 2011 - now

It was a challenging yet an exciting job when I was presented with the responsibility to handle the Private Maritime Security operations off Galle along with the traditional Ship Supply Services. In a market which was unpredictable to gauge the trend we had to handle the increasing volumes and allocating our resources in line with the GAC standards.Pleased to note, due to strategic marketing and operational planning under my tenure we were able to secure several key accounts from the competitors to enhance our market share. We worked closely with Private Maritime clients in the country and this often required effective negotiation skills to enable us to work efficiently together. We were able to manage these expectations successfully. We were able to successfully handle 375jobs in the month of Nov 2014 , the highest recorded by any agent in Sri Lanka as the set record for Galle , Ship Supply Service. GAC Marine SL also recorded the highest number of port calls by any GAC office surpassing the most busiest ports Singapore and Fujairah which i will always cherish. We have been able to maintain the market leader position to date in both Ship Supply Service as an agent and as a launch service provider with highly motivated team that is geared to take any challenge. We are not your local agent, but your local partner! Show less As the head of Commercial, i was tasked in identifying the key clients from the Private Maritime Sector for the Ship Supply Services and also align the resources to the projected targets both capital investments as well as training our staff. We were able to secure the most critical PMSC clients during this period which to date contributes within the two 10 clients for GAC Marine Sri Lanka. I also held the position as the only international bunker trader sitting in Sri Lanka in the GAC Bunker fuel network reporting to the GAC BF head office in Dubai. A unique opportunity to couple the experience of Agency which compliments securing bunker stems as a trader which gives the client a unique value proposition of a one stop shop. Show less The experience of handling Agency work and the ship supplies as a bunker supplier was best put to use when I was tasked with taking over the operations of the GAC Marine services to be in charge of the SSS off Galle. Our products were categorized mainly on two segments on local and foreign and a 3rd element was on the cards with the PMSC operations being facilitated off Galle. From a highly explosive cargo (Bunkers) to facilitating weapons movements in Sri Lanka was another unique experience liaisng once again with the Government authorities. Compliance and Ethics played a pivotal role enabling us to establish our best management practices to be able to establish GAC Marine as a market leader in the Ship Supply services todate , handling the most number of PMSC's under a single agency company with a market share of over 32% where as our closest competitor is averaging 12% market share. The processors needed to be reviewed to include the new additions to the service port folio and we managed to get the extension from ISO to cover our new line of operations too.Staff motivation was another key area that had to be dealt with operations picking up at rapid growth rate and ops being carried out 24 x 7 with high delivery expectations.
