Associated Professor, Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics

As one of the founding members of the The Centre for Business Mathematics and Informatics® (Centre for BMI) in South Africa during 1998, I have more than 10 years experience teaching data mining and artificial intelligence to undergraduate and graduate students as well as bridging the gap between industry and academia. This Center of Excellence in financial risk/reward management training and research was established to support the South African financial services industry and was a joint initiative between the erstwhile Potchefstroom University (now North-West University) and ABSA Bank Limited (now Barclays Africa Group Limited). During 2005 the Centre for BMI won the SAS Academic Intelligence award for best bridging the gap between industry and academia. As a senior academic in the centre, I supervised more than 20 industry-directed research projects at leading banks, telecommunications companies and credit bureaus and published several papers on credit scoring and neural networks. Dec 2010 - Jun 2019
      Principal Analytical Training Consultant

My primary role in the Global Academic Program at SAS Institute is to engage with professors and students to expand the use of SAS in academia. I accomplish this goal through interactive discussions with faculty and students to underscore the value of having SAS skills in business, teaching of courses and workshops and presenting demonstrations of SAS products. As an accomplished academic my knowledge and experience is invaluable to increase the uptake of SAS analytical products in university programs. My analytical and consultation skills as well as detailed knowledge of university programs is vital to SAS when positioning SAS training materials and software products correctly at universities.
