      Internal Communications Manager

      Responsible for communicating to staff and students at one of the UK's largest Universities. Managing a team of Internal Communications Officer, Internal Communications Assistant and Student Placement (Internal Communications) I reported to directly to the Head of Communications and worked closely with the External Communications team and Students' Union. Responsibilities included developing a strategy and delivering effective communications with 3,000 staff and 27,000 students. This involved managing dynamic website copy to reflect the range of activities and achievements of the university as well as information to enhance the performance of staff and students. I designed and implemented a staff magazine, a global calendar of activities for staff and students as well as managing social media campaigns and content and commissioned photography and video content to complement communications. I also led on staff and student communications for major activities such as annual staff survey, Staff awards, National Student Survey, Welcome Week, Graduation and curriculum development and activities. Achievements• Received team member of the year at the University’s staff awards.• Developed and managed the publication of the university’s first staff magazine which was shortlisted in the UK CIPR awards for best internal publication of the year.• Won the best digital media campaign for a freshers’ campaign at the HEIST Awards.• Team leader for six teams of students on international volunteering projects.• Project managed a mobile media unit at six week-long graduation ceremonies.• Liaised with colleagues across the university and Students’ Union to research and develop a detailed student and staff communication strategies and plans.• Created and managed a network of communications champions across the university.• Managed staff and student communications on the re-naming of the university.
