Skills and tasks performed include cleaning, flossing, water suction, installing Invisalign (with assistance), and more. Learning general dental office work environment and equipment.

Building social relationships with those with autism who have trouble in group settings. Established in 1990, the Center For Autism and Related Disorders (CARD) therapies’ are fundamentally based on the teachings of University of California, Los Angeles renowned autism treatment scientist, Dr. Ivar Lovaas. Dr. Lovaas discovered that intensive early intervention using applied behavior analysis (ABA) yielded a 47 percent recovery rate among individuals with autism who participated in his study.       "Stand-Up on the Delta 2022" Clinic Event by Healing California held in Antioch CA from 6/3/22-6/5/22. This event was particularly for veterans and their families in the Bay Area looking for dental and vision services. I had the amazing experience of volunteering with fellow healthcare-inclined students for the weekend, with a total time of 25+ hours. Duties included registering patients for either dental or optometry services, set-up and clean up, sanitization of equipment, and assisting and shadowing general dentists. Assisted with extraction and suture procedures on both days volunteered. I had an amazing time working with veterans who were incredibly thankful for the clinic, and I look forward to attending upcoming events in the future! Show less

      Healing California and Convoy of Hope Dental and Optometry Clinic 2022 held from August 12-13th. This non-profit clinic served veterans and their families by providing dental and optometry care. I was able to attend both the set-up and the actual clinic itself and in doing so met so many people and learned many skills. Tasks included clinic set-up and clean-up, patient servicing and triage, dental shadowing and assisting (extraction, filling, cleanings) and sanitization of equipment. I was able to connect with a lot of local dentists and doctors and even met up with some familiar ones! Show less

      Clinic hours from 7:30AM-5:00PM at Veterans of Foreign Wars' Central Valley Veterans Stand Down Event on September 14th, 2022. Worked as a dental assistant with multiple volunteering dentists at this non-profit vision and dental clinic. Performed fillings, extractions, and cleaning services for veterans in the Fresno community. I was able to connect with a lot of doctors (especially from Shinkawa Dental!) and other volunteers at this clinic and learn a lot! Tasks also included sorting dental supplies, cleaning down equipment after use, and sterilization. Show less

      Regents Scholarship UC Davis May 2022 The Regents Scholarship is one of the most prestigious awards bestowed upon an undergraduate at UC Davis. This honor is awarded to specially selected freshmen and juniors. It is a $7,500 per year scholarship, which may be accompanied by a stipend for those with demonstrated financial need. These scholarships are renewable as long as the student maintains a 3.25 grade point average and remains in good academic standing.
