  Fsae uqac: body & aerodynamics

  Student multidisciplinary competition consisting in the design, building and driving of a small-scale racing car. Responsible for the 3D modelling of the body of the car (SolidWorks) and the preliminary aerodynamic analysis of the body-frame assembly (SolidWorks and ANSYS Workbench).The prototype developed was used in the Formula North 2017 (Barrie, Ontario, Canada) and the Formula SAE Michigan 2018 (Brooklyn, Michigan, USA) competitions.

  Laboratory research project: porous ceramics developed using expandable polymer spheres

  Collaboration between Luleå University of Technology and Nouryon Pulp and Performance Chemicals AB (formerly AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals AB), ExpancelSupervisors: Prof. Farid Akhtar and Dr. Jan NordinDeveloped shaped macroporous alumina foams by means of gel-casting using pre-expanded polymeric microspheres as sacrificial templates. Investigated the processing conditions to optimize the mechanical behavior and to highly tailor the structure of presintered foams. Assessed the applicability of these ceramic foams in the field of high temperature filtering. Show less

  Master’s thesis: hot stamping of ultra-high-strength steels

  Collaboration between Gestamp HardTech AB, SSAB Borlänge and Luleå University of TechnologySupervisors: Dr. Johanne Mouzon and Dr. Sven-Erik HörnströmStudied the growth of loose oxide scales on the surface of uncoated boron-alloyed steel during hot stamping. Developed a surface treatment enhancing the steel-oxide adhesion and studied the adhesion mechanisms acting on various pre-treated steel grades. Assessed the applicability of this pretreatment at the industrial scale.

  Product Development & Application Engineering ACT Studied the capabilities of plasma-assisted centrifugal atomization for the processing of refractory alloys and compounds into micron-sized spherical powders, with focus on cast tungsten carbide and high entropy alloys containing Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, W.On-site product development, quality control, and stock management. Collaboration between Höganäs Sweden AB and Luleå University of Technology Characterized samples of carbide-based materials by means of microindentation, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy-Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS), and X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRD).
