The Malaysian Current Law Journal Sdn Bhd (also commonly known as CLJ) was established in 1981 under the royal patronage of HRH Sultan Azlan Muhibuddin Shah, then the Chief Judge of Malaysia. The company is prodigiously publishing legal, business, and regulatory information in print, and on electronic devices. Since its first publication in 1981, CLJ has risen to be the most prominent and respected publisher of legal materials in Malaysia, has its headquarters in the business hub in Dataran De Palma along Jalan Ampang in Kuala Lumpur. Its staff strength stands at 50 employees with a wide-ranging set of professional qualifications. Organisationally, CLJ is divided into 4 distinct business activities namely law reporting, book publishing, online research and seminar & events management. The company, however, is best known for establishing the Current Law Journal, a law report carrying the decisions of the Federal Court, Court of Appeal and High Courts of Malaysia. In addition, decisions from the Industrial Courts and lower courts of Malaysia are reported in the journals called Industrial Law Reports and SMC cases, respectively. All of CLJ’s reports are heavily cited by the judges and legal practionersand have become the nationwide de facto standard in the Malaysian courts as well as courts in foreign jurisdictions. In 1997 CLJ started the first Malaysian online law research library under a subsidiary company called CLJ Legal Network Sdn Bhd.This service is used in the Malaysian courts, universities, government departments and legal firms for all law related information such as court judgments and acts of parliament. A similar electronic library known as Mylawboxwas set up in 2000 which carries a collection of commonwealth cases in various subject matters. In time, CLJ has become one of the "big three" legal publishers in Malaysia and the only truly home grown Malaysian company
