2006 - 2010Doctor of philosophy (ph.d.) computational biology - department of computer science (entrepreneurial break)In collaboration with researchers at the Mechano Electrical Feedback Group at Physiology Department, Computational Biology Group at Computer Science Department, and the John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford, Tahir's aim was to develop a grid enabled distributed image processing pipeline for multi-terabyte cardiac histo-anatomical imaging data-sets in order to build high resolution 3D cardiac models.

As part of this thesis, he developed a UML Modeler to generate C++ code from high level architectures defined in terms of relationships between design patterns.

He was part of manual mail sorting team at the distribution warehouse the size of multiple football fields. Tahir developed a memory map based hashing and sorting algorithm to efficiently sort mail into post code boxes.

The project involved automated assessment of 3D surface anatomy for assisting surgeons during planning of breast reconstructive surgery for patients who had undergone mastectomy post breast cancer.
