  'The Beacon Program’ was an exclusive, fast-track program which selected motivated, high-potential candidates for senior management training. Although a Junior Officer, I was given this fantastic opportunity. As trainees, we studied all aspects of ship operations: Food & Beverage, Human Resources, Housekeeping, Administration, Inventory, Customer Relations, Immigration & Customs. We worked our way through various roles and departments, gaining insight to the operations and staff we were soon to lead.The Program incorporated hands-on, practical training, where we assumed the responsibilities of the role we studied, together with structured curriculums and assignments.
