Provide acute consultations for hospitalized patients in need of wound evaluations, treatment plans, education, and discharge planning. As an ostomy nurse as well, I consult with new ostomy patients in need of very individualized education for the patient and their chosen family members, counseling regarding life changes, and discharge planning to prepare a new ostomate for discharge. As part of the education department at St. Joseph's Hospital, time is also spent with the nursing staff and physicians to help educate them about best practice wound care treatments, products, and care. This role assisted with project development for improvement processes for pressure and fall injury prevention. The consultations ranged and varied from surgical wounds, trauma wounds, burns, vascular wounds, diabetic wounds, acute, chronic, and many atypical wounds as well. Consultations consisted if assessment, evaluation, plan and order development, along with follow up to ensure best practices and improvement occurred. Having the change to get to improve patients lives through healing and education to patients and their patient families to ensure understanding of wound/ostomy plans was especially rewarding in this position. This began as a full time role and transitioned to just weekends while working with DeRoyal, until leaving Colorado. Show less

As a senior global clinical wound care specialist for the DeRoyal wound care division, I consulted with the sales teams both domestically and internationally, along with our customers, to assist to enhance the clinical understanding of the DeRoyal AWC, NPWT, Burn, and general wound care products. This education improved our customers' and their patients' outcomes and quality of life. My duties included, but were not limited to, field clinically based questions for the sales team and customers, develop and deliver educational wound care/product presentations, conduct level 1 and level 2 training for new team members, provide evidence and knowledge-based information regarding our products and supplies, consult to assist clinical customers with complex patient needs, assist in clinical trials and conversion implementations, conduct educational and CEU webinars, design, develop, and implement new wound care marketing tools, and travel domestically and internationally to assist in sales and clinical education for our customers. I have participated in clinical research and evaluations. As a practicing CWOCN, I continued to be a clinical resource for knowledge in an ever-changing and growing world of wound care for all customers and DeRoyal employees by keeping up with market needs and trends. Show less Adding to the clinical specialist role, I began consulting with the international sales teams to help provide clinical guidance to their territories, along with the US. I transitioned fully from the sales territory role, left my consulting role at the hospital that I held on the weekends, and relocated to Knoxville, TN in 2016, where the corporate office is located, to be closer to corporate and be able to provide real-time assistance with the growth of the wound care division. This provided an opportunity to help assist the growth domestically, become more involved in the international growth of the wound care division, and assist closely with corporate projects for DeRoyal. My role predominately was focused on the domestic growth for the wound care and NPWT division of DeRoyal. I helped to manage the 24hr clinical call line to ensure our customers had access to clinical support 24/7, along with daily duties of developing new presentations, working with marketing to develop and update sales tools, providing product education and clinical education to our staff, and our customers, travel to provide support to the sales team throughout the US and work with corporate to assist in growth for our division. During this time, I became more involved in the international side of DeRoyal wound care and worked with multiple countries throughout Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. Show less Originally hired as a clinical specialist for the wound care division; this position was transitioned into a sales role during the first couple of weeks due to a corporate restructuring. Although I continued to be a consultant clinical specialist and assist with clinical needs throughout the country, I also took on the sales representative role for CO, NM, WY, UT, and KS. As the Sales territory manager, I held responsibility for sales growth for Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Northern New Mexico, and Western Kansas. In the sales role, I grew my territory in the first year of being with the company. By working closely with my customers and understanding the needs for change in wound care protocols, reimbursement issues, interest in new products, NPWT challenges, and changes in overall wound care treatments...I provide a different view of sales using my CWOCN clinical background to help improve patient outcomes with consultative selling techniques. During this time, I held a dual role. I traveled outside my territory to provide clinical consults and education to other areas of the country with growing wound care opportunities that needed clinical assistance and expertise. I provided presentations, conducted clinical trials with AWC and NPWT, helped to close and transition product conversions, and was responsible for growing the territory I was assigned as a sales representative. After two years of having a sales territory, although I enjoyed the sales position, I was happy to be transitioned to a full clinical specialist role and utilized as a full-time clinical resource for the growing division of DeRoyal wound care.
