    • ProGnosis Biotech S.A.

      Oct 2016 - Oct 2017
      Research Scientist

      • Produced innovative lateral flow immunoassays serving as point of care tests for determining milk adulteration and toxins in dairy products.• Developed novel products in order to meet market’s needs. Conducted research for improving and optimising current diagnostic tests.• Conjugated antibodies onto colloidal gold particles and latex beads.• Performed quality control testing procedures.• Responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of high-value equipment.

    • European Commission

      Oct 2017 - Oct 2021
      Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow

Main Duties• Planned, designed and performed in vitro studies (cell viability/migration/differentiation assays) exploring the effect of natural products on mammalian cells (dermal fibroblasts, pre-adipocytes). Successfully developed state-of-the-art drug-loaded fibrous tissue engineering scaffolds for wound healing applications with the use of various biomaterials (thermoplastic polymers). The fabrication process was performed via the electrospinning technique. • Efficiently managed all aspects of cell culture lab, including set-up, organisation, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment under current best practices. Conducted procurements for scientific equipment and arranged the ordering for lab supplies and consumables, achieving cost savings.• Engaged in project monitoring and financial management. Planned annual budget of approx. €450,000 and supported project team during the submission of deliverables by drafting reports. Carried out dissemination and outreach activities (presented in conferences, created promotion material, engaged with the public, co-organised a 3-day summer school with 150 participants), thus strengthening external communication.SkillsMammalian cell cultures, in vitro assays (cytotoxicity, cell differentiation, DNA/RNA extraction), cell-based tissue engineering constructs, wound healing, data analysis, scientific report writing.Worked on the Marie Curie MICROMETABOLITE EU-funded project. • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)

      Nov 2021 - Nov 2023

      • Effectively load various APIs (natural products, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic drugs) to 3D-printed tissue engineering scaffolds, that could potentially serve as novel therapeutics for periodontitis. • Develop analytical methodology (HPLC) for identifying bioactive molecules (e.g., luteolin) in various plant-derived extracts. These molecules could be isolated and further used as APIs in cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical preparations to successfully combat periodontitis.• Prioritise project tasks, allocate work to team members, and compile progress reports, therefore ensuring the successful completion of project milestones and deliverables.Closely collaborated with leading companies in the field of pharmaceuticals and technology, such as FREZYDERM, PharmaData and Uni Systems.Worked on 3D-BioPerioDontis and LuteoPaste projects that were co-financed by the European Union and Greek national funds.
