Step by step of rochester, inc.
Jan 2014 - Jan 2018Program assistant/ facilitatorStep by Step is a non-profit that is an Outreach Program of the VOA. Step by Step's mission is to empower women who are, have been, or are at risk of being incarcerated to claim their strengths and build healthy lives for themselves and their families. Step by Step facilitates groups in the Albion and Henrietta Correctional Facilities, and we also hold a STRIDE meeting for women on "the outside" and provide strength-based support to those who attend. Currently, Step by Step is also researching ways in which the programs may be useful for men. Part of my role is to oversee this, translate workshops from those which are women-focused into something that resonates with men, and facilitate two groups a week for a small group of men who are chronically homeless, yet in a permanent housing program. I also perform Outreach regulalrly. I attend meetings in the community, as well as meet with folks one-on-one in order to build connections and learn more in depth about programs that are good resources for the folks in our program. We hold ourselves accountable to our supporters by regularly measuring our impact. As the Brevard County Manager, I focus my efforts in Brevard County enrolling both youth and volunteers into the program, conducting orientations for the families and volunteers, matching youth with a volunteer, and following up with matches in order to provide match support to ensure child safety and to mentor those in our program.
