  Started of an apprenticeship in June 94 through FAS and became Qualified in June 98. during that time I learnt all aspects of plastering including internal and external mortar rendering, skimming, dashing, decorative finishing and mould work. I competed in the All Ireland Skills competition in Decorative Mould work for plastering on 3 occasions. after completing my apprenticeship I worked closely with my father who owned the company, in tendering and securing new work and also on the accounts sides of things. I also became a plasterers foreman where I became responsible for a team of plasterers in ensuring that projects were finished to highest of standards on time and on budget. Show less

  Employed as a Purchasing Officer/Manage in Bennett Construction doing the following,Sourcing and Purchasing of all materials from stationery to metalwork & fixings to concrete sundries.Liaising with in-house Quantity Surveying Department Creating and managing of standing orders Processing of all plant and labour hire.The above involved hiring from all equipment from a drill bit all the way up to a 1000 ton mobile crane. Organisation of all plant maintenance on the full Bennett Plant Hire fleet. Processing of all credit requests. Matching & Approving invoices with purchase orders and dockets, Processing all invoices on internal system. Liaising with all external vendors and internal customers to investigate queries in order to bring to a satisfactory resolution. I am also responsible for all departmental reporting on month end construction site expenditure. In June 09 I was moved to our new UK office in Central London to source and secure a new supply chain for all the companies needs such as Stationery, Construction materials, Plant machinery, small tools and Labour supply. To date I have been successful in opening accounts with some of the UK’s largest Building merchants e.g. Jewsons, Wolseley, Travis Perkins, London Concrete and Rainham Steel to name a few. I have also opened accounts with many smaller companies located close to our projects to help with local employment which is a key factor in being part of the Considerate Contractors scheme here in the UK. I also got involved in other duties such as Quality & Enviromental which involved auditing our sites to ensure they were following the correct procedures layed out by our company and relevant authorities. I am also involved in the I.T department ranging from fixing minor I.T. issues to assisting an external I.T. company in fixing any problematic issues we incur. When we start up new sites I get involved in site set up for phones, broadband, setting up and configuring laptops and the site printers. Show less
