I support graduate students from various disciplines and backgrounds on academic writing and goal-setting with the aim to guide students toward thesis and degree completion. I work to provide a supportive environment for students navigating graduate school and thesis writing. This role also led to the initiation of a knowledge capture and transfer project to develop a facilitator’s manual to provide insights and best practices for facilitating graduate writing groups. I have evaluated student performance on written assignments and exams, led workshops, facilitated student presentations (both online and in-person) in courses: Social and Behavioural Sciences, Health Systems II (health policy) for pharmacy students pursuing professional degree at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy; and: Ethical and Legal Implications of Genomics for graduate students in the Department of Molecular Genetics. I conducted interviews with genetics experts to carry out a critical discourse analysis. I developed skills in qualitative data analysis software. I successfully applied for research ethics board approvals. I developed project management and research design skills. Maintained exam integrity and provided a quiet environment for students. This position required knowledge of exam room procedures and conflict resolution strategies. Assisted two senior faculty members at Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing with literature reviews, academic article development, research participant recruitment, and focus group facilitation for a bioethics research project on rethinking risk and vulnerability in research ethics.
