This course allowed me to gain the skills to progress with a career in a dynamic organisation. Group work enhanced my communication, leadership, motivation and organisation skills which largely results in me driving the groups. I am effective at managing people and ensuring equity runs throughout group work. The intensive two week project management module allows insight into methods such as PRINCE (2), network planning and risk management. Other modules studied include Information Systems, A Consultancy approach to IT/ IS, Database Management Systems, Developing Business & Information System Strategy and BASIC programming. During my degree I covered three main subject areas, management, marketing and Spanish. My dissertation topic was ‘The Importance of Public Relations in the Nanotechnology Industry’. I researched organisations views on public reaction to nanotechnology and whether public relations could play a positive role in shaping reaction. I found certain aspects of public relations theory were used in industry where some were more effective than others. I found certain aspects of public relations theory were used in industry where some were more effective than others. Nanotechnology companies are increasingly worried about consumer backlash and at the same time many do not understand how to prevent conflict affecting them. I found interesting results which many parties were interested in. I achieved my goal with my dissertation as I received a grade A pass. Show less
