Directed efforts in: judicial, prosecutorial, and legal aid attorney training; reform of legal education in Afghanistan; civil, commercial, and criminal law reform; establishment of legal aid system; and crafting protections to combat gender-based violence. Oversaw program activities in training prosecutors from across the country; establishing a legal aid provider; collaborating with the Faculties of Law and of Sharia at Kabul University to train legal aid attorneys; working with the Afghan government to implement reform in the area of gender and criminal justice including working with NGOs to set up women’s referral centers; and developing a benchbook for the Afghan judiciary.
