  Urban Mitzvah Corps is a Union for Reform Judaism four-week residential community service program. Responsibilities included preparing meals for the homeless (Elijah’s Promise), providing support and companionship for the elderly (Regency Nursing Home) and serving as a camp counselor for under-privileged and at-risk youth (SAFE). - Selected to recruit, coordinate and lead 23 teens through a residential four-week social action program that is designed to encourage participants to explore their Jewish values while serving communities in need - Planned, marketed and executed a National Federation of Temple Youth Auction that raised over $4,000 for the UMC Scholarship Fund- Orchestrated a schedule of guest speakers and original programming that taught participants a variety of skills and important lessons that centered around the program theme of homelessness and poverty.   SMOOCHY is the youth group for Temple Beth-El is Hillsborough, New Jersey. SMOOCHY orchestrates activities for all temple members in High School, whether they be social, religious, or community service events. SMOOCHY is also responsible for planning the yearly Purim Carnival at the Temple, which is a massive event for the younger families who are a part of the Temple.- Established a culture where Temple Beth-El teens view SMOOCHY as an integral and steadfast part of their lives by hosting bi-monthly “lock-ins”, monthly “blue jean shabbat” services, and semesterly social action events- Oversaw committees that planned a “midnight run” to New York City, where articles of clothing and prepared food bags were donated personally to over 100 homeless people around the city- Executed SMOOCHY Board Meetings by preparing an agenda of the different events and social action opportunities that needed to be discussed by Board Members, and oversaw any and all committees that organized SMOOCHY-run events Show less
