  At the Ann Romney Research Center, Harvard Medical School, we conducted a study using the placenta of pregnant patients with neuromyelitis optica (NMO) to investigate the immunological mechanisms that lead to the high obstetric complications associated with the disease. Using immunofluorescence staining, we examined the overlap between the AQP4 antigen and the anti-AQP4 antibody, as well as the subsequent activation of the complement cascade. Our observations revealed an overlap between IgG and AQP4 antigen and further complement activation. Show less

  At neurology department, University of Massachusetts, we wrote two review articles about mechanisms underlying neurologic manifestation of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). We described factors responsible for neurologic and cerebrovascular manifestation of SARS-CoV-2 virus .

  At Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Kansas University Medical Center, we are working on the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease. We are studying the structure of mitochondria using electron microscopy. We also published a review paper that outlines the pathological stages of Alzheimer's Disease patients according to Thal and Braak criteria.
