  Research intern in michael shelanski's lab

  During my internship under Dr. Silvia Pasini, we conducted specific down-regulation of ATF4, a transcription factor, by lentiviral infection of mice hippocampal neurons primary culture. The general relevance of the project is to better understand biological processes involved in Alzheimer's disease. I produced an analysis script useful for analyzing the phenotype of the neuronal dendrites in order to assess synaptic plasticity and worked on understanding the molecular signaling involved by protein analysis by western blotting. My active contribution led to co-authorship on a Scientific Reports article. Show less

  I worked on the neuroprotective effects of a protein called Engrailed in Parkinson's Disease. My work led to a publication in EMBO Journal paving the way for potential new therapies for Parkinson Disease.
