      Jun 2015 - Jan 2017
      Research oceanography specialist

As a member of the SCOPE Field Operations team, I am constantly conquering demanding and dynamic challenges. From open ocean Oceanographic research cruises lasting several weeks, to our monthly 5 day long cruises with HOT (Hawai'i Ocean Time Series), our work never ends. Cruise prep, logistics, and participation is a cornerstone to the job, but that's just the start. Back in our beautiful and newly constructed green building C-More Hale, we work diligently to analyze and process samples collected in the field. Disseminating data and samples all over the world, and working in house with the Directors of the program, we are hub of the SCOPE operation. Located at the picturesque campus of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, we play host to many a visiting scientist and student. Collaborating with 16 different Principle Investigators across the nation, and throughout the world is no small feat, but it is the coordination and communication where our organization shines. The Simons Collaboration on Ocean Processes and Ecology seeks to characterize and understand high-resolution spatial and temporal associations and relationships between climatic forcing, biogeochemical constraints, and major ecological processes in the ocean. Because of the large scale, highly collaborative orchestration, SCOPE is tackling some of the biggest questions ever asked about the global ecosystem. I am incredibly proud to be able to call myself a contributing member.. Show less
