Nov 2017 - Nov 2017Shipping clerk (temporary work post graduation)As a temporary shipping clerk at Adesa, I was transferred from my temp role at Impact Auto auctions (part of the same company). ADESA offers a full range of auction, reconditioning, logistical and other vehicle-related services to meet the remarketing needs of both its institutional and dealer customers. The company positions itself to host physical and Internet auctions. Much of my time was utilizing and deploying their Auto Automated Management System, aka AMS, to issue charges on bulk based shipping of vehicles shipments moving between our Vancouver shipping depot and other shipping depots. To this end, I needed to ensure timely charging, invoicing, and physical record keeping of financial documentation of individual cars in a consignment lot prior to shipment. On average, charging shipment charges of vehicles could vary between 250-540 vehicles. Each vehicle passes through a seven stepped billing procedure for accurately charging the appropriate inter-branch shipping and transportation charges and is manually transposed into AMS and MS Excel and the accompanying vehicle information. My greatest achievement in this role was being able to process record processing time and shipping records compilation of three to three-and-a-half days for 250- 540 vehicles that needed to be processed; whereas, the average process record processing time and shipping records compilation time is Successfully conduct all recruitment remotely from home office.I learnt that operational and financial changes in an automotive shipping and transportation industry form part of an integrated but accuracy centric automotive shipping and transportation firm. It allowed me to learn a new relationship data integration and invoice centric automation system. Although my co-workers, supervisors, all staff, and work environment were decent people, this temporary position allowed me to realize how much I missed the HR, recruitment, corporate health and safety, and project management work. This involved Leveraging Upwork, Kajiji, Indeed, All jobs, Monster.com posting platforms for recruiting purposes. Moreover, I leveraged HR management software (Humi HR Turn Key Solutions) to streamline and integrate all HR processes. All the recruitment was remotely conducted.My greatest achievement in this role was being able to create tailor-made job descriptions from scratch, successfully promote and secure these jobs to these to interested candidates from a career growth standpoint. Successfully conduct all recruitment remotely from home office.I learnt that operational and financial changes in a start-up technology firm require innovative and efficient hr. solutions to be built on cost savings and efficiency and being able to adapt and solution find is important. I also learnt the importance of communicating and managing expectations with management and applicants when one is creating and implementing industry and legal compliant hr. and recruitment practices; namely: being able to listen to, understand, value, and emote appropriate responses during conflict of interests and schedules as needed.
