      Designed, implemented and led the first and only K-12 public charter school in the City of Alameda. Opening its doors as a K-9 in 2009 with 285 student (learners) and 12 teachers (facilitators), Nea is persistently high performing and will graduate its second class of seniors in June 2014 and has grown to serve 520 learners with an educational team of 36. Led successful charter renewal effort resulting in the extension of Nea’s charter for 5 more years. Participated in successful facilities negotiation and obtained an 11-year lease to occupy the Woodstock campus in Alameda with its sister school, the Alameda Community Learning Center. Championed fundraising efforts while managing and appropriating a multimillion-dollar budget that included state and local revenue streams, resulting in the accumulation of a 1.3 million-dollar cash reserve over 4 years.       A hands-on exhibitor at the Maker Faire, billed as the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth, since May 2011. The interactive science experience invites the visitor to use physics concepts to build "Quick Coasters", articulating sections with other designs by exhibition visitors. The interactive exhibit won numerous awards and recognition, including the Make Magazine Editor's Choice award in 2014 and 2016, and received the Exhibitor Educator Award in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2018.

      Mobilized grade-level implementation of cross-curricular, collaboratively designed, thematically aligned, project-based learning activities, culminating in presentations of products at quarterly showcase. Headed an action research study seeking to mitigate negative impacts of distance learning. The synthesis of data implies a positive effect of collaboration and PBL on collective teacher efficacy and student engagement during distance learning.Responsible for coordinating and redesigning the College and Career Pathway at Lionel Wilson Prep (LWP). Using the criterion of the Linked Learning Alliance, initiated successful Silver Certification and received and managed over $500K from Oakland's Measure N bond funds to implement work-based learning career themes with on and off site CTE courses. Leader of interface with Oakland's Measure N oversight commission, coordinating ward-winning programing in four key components of LWP's Design for Social Change, an Engineering Pathway: Rigorous academics, aligned to admissions requirements for state colleges and universities; Career technical education, delivering concrete knowledge and skills through a carefully structured sequence of courses; Work-based learning, providing students with exposure to real-world workplaces through job shadowing, apprenticeships, internships, etc., and comprehensive support services, including counseling and supplemental instruction in reading, writing, and math to address the individual academic and socioemotional needs. The science content is driven by an inquiry-model where each episode starts with a mystery that students attempt to solve together. Through sharing an inquiry journey with with Mosa Mack, the young African American science protagonist, and her crew, students discover and use the practices of science and engineering .
