      [September 2015 - March 2016: funded by the DFAT Governance for Development Project (GfD)March 2016 - September 2017: funded by the Government of Timor-Leste].As an adviser to the Minister, I provided technical and policy advice to H.E. the Minister of State, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, and the technical team in MECAE on economic issues, and carried out research and analysis in several sectors of the real economy, in particular agriculture, tourism and labour markets:• Tourism: I reviewed and optimized tourism survey instruments, and analysed their results using Stata to provide policy advice and options to increase tourism’s contribution to the Timorese economy and develop a model to estimate the economic impact of tourism in Timor-Leste.• Agriculture: I carried out studies to estimate the potential of agricultural commodities: coffee, cocoa, coconut, candlenut, vanilla, clove, pepper and forestry products, among others; and participated in the development of the Agriculture Planning Tool (APT): a simulating tool that allows identifying investments in the sector with higher potential returns on labour, income and/or production;• Labour Market: I carried out an analysis of the employment, fiscal, investment, and business environment impact of several scenarios of a minimum wage increase.I drafted and collaborated in the drafting of general and sector-specific economic strategies and policies during the mandate of the VI Constitutional Government, including the National Employment Strategy 2017-2030, the 2030 Timor-Leste National Tourism Policy, and investment policy. I participated in consultation processes for government policies with government, private sector and civil society stakeholders. I also worked closely with fellow economists and policy advisers across government, international organizations (WB, IFC, ADB, UN), universities and other institutions to strengthen economic analysis and research available in Timor-Leste.
